Founded in 1999, TLC Newport Beach is led by Tom Tooma, M.D., the founder of TLC Vision Southern California and the medical director for TLC Southern California. He has performed more than 80,000 LASIK procedures. K. Alexander Dastgheib, M.D., serves as LASIK and cataract/intraocular lens specialist. He has performed more than 15,000 LASIK procedures. Dan Tran, M.D., provides specialty cataract consulting and surgeries. He has performed more than 20,000 LASIK procedures. Combined, the TLC Newport Beach medical team has done more than 135,000 laser vision correction surgeries.
TLC Newport Beach is the flagship location for all of TLC Southern California and boasts the largest facility with the most laser equipment. Its open-access policy allows outside ophthalmologists to perform surgeries in its surgery center. TLC Newport Beach also coordinates with major pharmaceutical companies, including Alcon and Allergan, on clinical trials. It has recently completed trials in various areas of refractive surgery, including inlay technologies and dry eye issues.
