Founded in 2001, TLC Palm Desert is led by Richard Burns, M.D., and James Kao, D.O./M.D. Combined, they have performed more than 70,000 LASIK procedures. Dr. Burns specializes in cataract surgery and is recognized as the top surgeon on the west coast for implementation of the Restor lens. Dr. Kao specializes in LASIK and corneal surgery, including extreme cases of pterygium removal.
Being in Palm Desert, this center specializes in seniors, including both local residents and “snowbirds,†who are escaping colder climates for the warm desert winters. TLC Palm Desert focuses primarily on cataract surgery and laser vision correction surgery for patients 45 years old and older. It also caters to the needs of military personnel based in the area and works closely with each patient’s commanding officer to accommodate his or her specific requirements. TLC Palm Desert is the only laser vision correction center in the desert that works hand-in-hand with referring optometrists to ensure the best care for the patients.
